User Comment:cell phone purchase
Im interested in purchasing 2 motorola v262 cell phones. Iam currently contracted with us cellular, and wish to stay with them. Im somewhat confused to whether or not I can do this with the v 262 phones that you offer at this time. please let me know if I can only purchase unlocked phones for this to work. Thankyou for your time, Dennis
by:customer [December 19, 2006 - 6:18]1 December 19, 2006 - 10:20 UNLOCKED phones refer to GSM technologies whereas US Cellular uses CDMA technologies. So you must purchase US Cellular phones to work with your current plan from our US Cellular list: http://www.digicircle.com/ols_buy.php?carrier=US%20Cellular
For more information about GSM vs CDMA vs LOCKED and UNLOCKED, see below:
====================
Activating a Used Cell Phone
Activating a used cell phone requires either no action or just a very simple step, depending on which service provider you use. In cellular service there are two main competing network technologies: GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) and CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access). The main GSM carriers in the United States are Cingular Wireless, which recently merged with AT&T Wireless, and T-Mobile USA. Major CDMA carriers are Sprint PCS, Verizon and Virgin Mobile. There are also several smaller cellular companies on both networks.
In the United States only GSM phones use SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) cards. The removable SIM card allows phones to be instantly activated when an active SIM card is plugged in as long as both the SIM card and the phone are for the same service provider.
On the other hand, CDMA carriers in the U.S. require proprietary handsets that are linked to one carrier only and are not card-enabled. To activate a CDMA phone, the carrier must deactivate the old phone then activate the new one. The old phone becomes inactive. To avoid any activation charge, CDMA service providers usually offer free online cell phone activation. For example, you may activate your Verizon phones for free at https://myaccount.verizonwireless.com/vzs/renew/activatesplash.jsp. To do that, you will need to provide the serial number, called ESN, of the new phone. For each CDMA phone we sell, the ESN number is available on its item description page.

Verizon question...
1. I do not have a cellular account. I do plan to choose a prepaid with Alltel, Verizon, or Suncom. I noticed on Verizon's website, you need the telephone# to activate the phone online. So, do I need to buy my phone first, and then go to their site to activate it?

User Comment:US Cellular used phones
Do all of your used US Cellular phones have the US Cellular imprinted on them? It would be easier if you provided a phone number to contact you directly. I've been advised that the cellular company needs a serial decimal number to verify activation. I need phone ASAP. Thanks.
by:customer [December 3, 2006 - 1:36]1 December 3, 2006 - 1:56 YES, they all the 'US Cellular' mark on all the items. Also, for each phone we sell, the ESN (serical) number is available individually by clicking on the item's detail description link for the item. You may call your service provider with the ESN number to double check before you purchase from us!

by:customer [November 19, 2006 - 8:28]1 November 19, 2006 - 8:38 The phone does not come with any contract and it is not a 'pre-paid' phone. You need to have a service plan with Verizon (can be a contract or just pre-paid). In either case, once you purchase the phone from digiCircle.com, you can call Verizon to activate your service on the phone.

Can I use my Tri-Band GSM phone abroad?
I am traveling to Asia. Can I just bring my Nokia 6102 Tri-Band GSM phone and use it, perhaps with a per-paid card, there? Any one?
by:afa [August 8, 2006 - 3:10]2 August 12, 2006 - 1:10 afa, if you got the phone from Cingular, by default the phone is locked to Cingular's service. So you need to get it unlocked to use it in Asia. Usually it takes $10, $15 bucks to do that. Some free sites for DIY: http://www.peters1.dk/webtools/nokia/nokiaonline.php?sprog=en
